I promise you they’re nowhere near as glamorous as they sound. The Unofficial World Records of Sex (which I only presented) scarred me for years. Some things in life a young man doesn’t need to see. But I needed a new couch at home and it paid quite well. I met my now wife at Bikini Heaven. She was the assistant producer at the time. I said as soon as I met her she was the one. That was before I’d seen the 14 contestants.
Did you know that there are 14,300 results when you type “Andy Goldstein” and “sex symbol” into Google?
Yep I did, and it took me most of the night to type them all in.
Met anyone with an easier job?
I’ve got the best job in the world. I always liked the idea of talking for a living. It was the only thing I was ever good at. My English teacher once wrote: “Good luck in life, Goldstein, you’re going to need it.”
How hard was it taking over from Tim Lovejoy on Soccer AM last summer?
I’m lucky that I hit it off with Helen [Chamberlain, his co-presenter] from Day 1. We have the same sense of humour and know what makes each other tick. I was as much a fan of the whole “Helen and Tim” thing as anyone and a bit apprehensive when taking over. But if I didn’t think I could have done it as well, I would have said no. Fans of the show come up to me with kind words. It’s their show. So as long as they’re happy then so am I.
Ever been for a ride in Helen’s Aston Martin?
Ah, the Aston. Yep, I’ve been in it. I’ve even taken it for a quick spin. The day she bought it she actually decided in the morning to have a tattoo done. She called me up in the afternoon from the showroom and said: “I didn’t fancy a tattoo, so I’ve just bought a DB9.” As you do.
Do women know anything about football?
Of course they do. How else do you expect me to answer this one? Helen knows her stuff as well as anyone in the office. Obviously with her being a big Torquay fan it’s sometimes difficult for her to relate to things like Champions League football or major cup finals, so we tend to leave that chat until after she’s gone home.

Not quite as impressive :-) I think someone needs to learn how to use search engines better.
