Who is the most dangerous forward player in the Premiership at present?

Torres Fernando Torres scored his second hat-trick in three games for Liverpool on Wednesday night, helping Rafael Benitez's side to retake fourth place in the Premier League from their Merseyside rivals Everton. The Spaniard currently has 24 goals in all competitions and is one of the hottest properties in England.

Only 24 hours earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal of the game against Lyons to take Manchester United through to the last eight of the Champions League, the attacking midfield player taking his tally to an incredible 30 goals this campaign in the process.

Over at Arsenal, Emmanuel Adebayor's 2007-08 haul currently stands at 23, the Togo international's goals having helped compensate for the long-term absence of Robin van Persie.

And let's not forget Chelsea's Didier Drogba, whose total of ten goals to date this season is respectable considering he has been sidelined for much of the campaign and who, remember, scored 33 goals the year before.

So, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the Times Online poll for you today is: who is the most dangerous forward player in the Premiership at present? Please cast your vote and we would welcome you leaving a comment at the bottom of this page to explain your choice.

i vote for torres simply because he's such a world class striker.i'm not a reds supporter and in fact i'm a arsenal fans.it's really frustrating to me to compare adebayor with torres because if torres replace adebayor in all the matches arsenal have played so far, we could have been champion already. You wanted to know why? it's simple, because looking at all the chances created by arsenal midfield(fab, flamini, hleb), torres will DEFINITELY score and double the scoreline. And look back at adebayor, he might be a good striker but he's no where near to be the next HENRY(or world class striker) if you see all the chances created for him (in 10 chances maybe he could only converted 1 or 2 goals) where as i believe torres can do much more cause he's not just strong physically but also got skills. If anyone do not believe in me, try to review back the matches arsenal has played so far and you could see how many chances adebayor has wasted.(or other words, in those circumstances, do you think the likes of torres, drogba, ronaldo or even yakubu could have miss the chances more than adebayor?)
so,wenger, please get a top class striker for us to fill henry's boot rather than wasting a few more seasons to wait them( adebayor, bendtner, van persie, walcott) to improve.

All the rest are great players, but for movement, pace, strength, touch and finishing they simply can't touch Torres.

I'm a Toon fan and dreading going to Anfield. Torres is the best player in the league by a mile. He's the new Henry as far as the Prem is concerned. A joy to watch.

Posted by: Sid | March 07, 2008 at 08:48 AM

It has to be Ronaldo. Its not just the goals, I think he has more number of assists than Torres too.

Posted by: Hafiz Nadirshah | March 07, 2008 at 07:19 AM

Ronaldo - he's the league's leading scorer while still ostebsibly being a midfielder (albeit an extremely attack minded one). And out of all those players, he's the one with the vital 'unpredictability factor'. He is also not as reliant on service as the others here, able to fashion chances at will through his own ability. So there

Posted by: Thom | March 07, 2008 at 03:32 AM

Many ronaldo goals came from freekicks or penalties. Torres scored all from open play.

Posted by: Jones | March 07, 2008 at 03:14 AM

Yes I am a Liverpool fan and yes I would like Ronaldo in our team (if he showed a bit less arrogance - the same goes for Quaresma actually) but Torres is simply fantastic and only 23yo... wow.

And for a guy of his class he has missed some sitters this year - he could easily have another half a dozen goals!

Against West Ham... 3 goals, an early missed header that should have been on target and a diving header that beat Green but hit the post - he could have had 5.

Posted by: Jim | March 07, 2008 at 12:23 AM

Torres because it is his first season in England, because he plays for a team that has been struggling both on and off the pitch and because his goals do not include any penalties or free kicks

Posted by: lawrie | March 07, 2008 at 12:06 AM

Hello from Madrid. I am Spanish and athonished with Torres. He's being much better in England than in Spain! His goals are fantastic! a true show! He is really speedy and tall! the best spaniard player in the last 25 years. Much better than Raul. You are really fortunate to enjoy him in the Islands...
I love the nice football!

'Course it's Torres.
The guy was right.
Numbers tell the tale.
Subtract from Greasehead's tally,
All the penalties,
( not to mention free kicks. )
Torres Rules.

It has to be Fernando Torres.

Posted by: UMAR | March 06, 2008 at 05:24 PM

Considering its his first season in the English Premier League and basically had to learn to deal with a brand new way of life and come to terms with that Scouse accent! you cant look any further than Fernando Torres! What he's done in a miss firing liverpool side is quite frankly remarkable....yes Ronaldo is a truely world class player and hitting 30 goals is another fantasitc achievement for the lad but (and i know there different positions) as first seasons go Ronaldo wasnt at Torres's level.
I hope are new "God" goes on to bag 30 goals for himself! Odd's on him for a third successive hat-trick? With Newcastle at home next i'd take it on...

Posted by: Mark Ward | March 06, 2008 at 04:39 PM

A few weeks ago I would have said Ronaldo, but on current form I would say Torres pips him to the post - bearing in mind its his first season in the premier league, the way he has adapted is nothing short of astounding.

Posted by: WARREN MILLER | March 06, 2008 at 04:26 PM

Take away Ronaldo's two penalties and there's only one goal in it. Torres is a revelation. All those goals in an underperforming Liverpool side where he's hardly had a run in the side. Amazing. Rafa must be secretly kicking himself for all those games he 'rested' him. It's cost Liverpool a shot at competing for the big prize.

Some interesting comments about El Nino and also interesting that it's mainly Ronaldo and Torres who get the votes which I think is correct.

Torres is having a great season I agree with a previous comments that it is a shame he has gone to Liverpool as he would have a lot more chances if he played somewhere else. He is deadly and appears to be a good ambassador for the premier league.

I have to go with Ronaldo though. The reason for this is the number 30. He has scored more goals than anyone else this season and therefore is the deadliest, no question. OK he often doesn't perform in the big games but that will come, I'm sure he is aware of that and I think if Utd get to the CL final you will see one of his greatest games.

30 goals doesn't lie, I fully expect him to add at least another 10 to that by the end of the season.

torres. how many goals has adebayor or ronaldo scored via penalties?

Posted by: lee | March 06, 2008 at 03:31 PM

"Torres? Where do you leave Adebaryor? I think the lanky Togolese has displayed remarkable skills and goal-poaching abilities.. especially playing in an Arsenal side that can be referred to as average." - Posted by: John.
Give me a break! Have you been watching Arsenal this season? The two best matches I've seen all season have been Arsenal vs. Man Utd and Milan. And I'm a Liverpool fan!

Posted by: Roger | March 06, 2008 at 02:44 PM

How come Dave Nugent isn't on this list?

Posted by: Tom | March 06, 2008 at 01:59 PM

Torres with no doubt. always like threatening the goal everytime he get the balls. Can create his own chances, not like adebayor / drogba. and hey guys,, its his first season in epl, absolutely worldclass, so envy that liverpool had him.

Posted by: verdo | March 06, 2008 at 01:27 PM

Fernando Torres is on target to become a legend at Anfield. 23 goals in all competitions already this season and 18 of those in the Premier League tell their own story. However, his workrate for the team along with strike partner Dirk Kuyt is also something to behold. The great thing for Liverpool is also the fact that he he signed a 6 year contract , is still only 23 years old, as is Javier Mascherano, and Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger. Ryan Babel and Brazilian Lucas are both only 21 years old, yes, the future looks very bright at Anfield. In Torres, Liverpool have the outstanding forward in world football and it is a credit to Liverpool FC manager Rafael Benitez that he was able to bring this unique talent to Anfield.

Posted by: Graham Agg | March 06, 2008 at 01:27 PM

For consistency and season performance i would give it to Ronaldo. but considering that Torres have not played as much games as Ronaldo. Torres is the man!

Posted by: Emmanuel Oyenuga | March 06, 2008 at 01:08 PM

Taking into consideration, the fact that Liverpool being less creative than Manure and Arsenal, and the style of play being less attacking, We have to give credit to the young man 'El Nino', for not only notching in so many goals but in the manner he has done it in.

Nando Torres has got my Vote...

Posted by: Muby | March 06, 2008 at 12:47 PM

Eh I know Torres is great but I see it as very convenient that the poll is today, maybe it would be different if it was taken after one of Ronnies 21 league goals(as a WINGER).Also this ''it has to be Torres, as he has missed quite a few games due to an injury earlier in the season and Rafa's raving rotation policy, whereas I think Ronaldo has played most games this season''- in actual fact Ronaldo has played in 1 LESS GAME than Torres has been involved in in the league this season,so that arguements over. Its also not surprising that a Liverpool fan brings up him being arrogant as a reason for him not being the best attacking force in the prem-(clutching at straws comes to mind).Henry and Cantona had arrogant goal celebrations, both were poor attacking players as a result of your brilliant arguement.Go by opinions and you will have a few different answers, look at the facts (goals scored)it really only can be Cristiano.

Posted by: John | March 06, 2008 at 12:40 PM

Torres? Where do you leave Adebaryor? I think the lanky Togolese has displayed remarkable skills and goal-poaching abilities.. especially playing in an Arsenal side that can be referred to as average. And don't forget he's had to step into the big shoes of Thierry Henry and carried the burden in the absence of more acclaimed scorer Robin Van Persie.

Posted by: Kingsley Lington | March 06, 2008 at 12:40 PM

i think these people are all liverpool supporters you got to give it to ronaldo he is just brilliant and to score 30 goals as a midfielder is great and i am a Newcastle supporter

Posted by: Tom | March 06, 2008 at 12:02 PM

Torres for sure by a mile not just because i am Liverpool fan but the humility he shows when he scores unlike Ronaldo who has that arrogant look on his face when he scores, if Ronaldo could change his attitude he would be better liked. Then it would go down to wire between Torres and Ronaldo with Torres edging it.

Posted by: Mario | March 06, 2008 at 10:55 AM

Really would be interesting to know how many people who voted for our Nando are fellow reds. I've voted for him, not only because he is ours but because I genuinelly think he is the most dangerous forward player at present. He's unstoppable. He's also not thought of because of one particular traight like perhaps C Ronaldo (stepover king) or Adebayor and Drogba (Hold the ball up really well, strong as Ox's). He just seems to be a complete all round player.

Posted by: Once a Red, Always a Red | March 06, 2008 at 10:34 AM

it has to be Torres, as he has missed quite a few games due to an injury earlier in the season and Rafa's raving rotation policy, whereas I think Ronaldo has played most games this season

Posted by: helen | March 06, 2008 at 10:11 AM

I'm not as well informed as you chaps and don't make it my business to watch every single premiership match but I watched Liverpool destroy West Ham 4-0 yesterday and have gone for Torres because (correct me if I'm wrong here) he had 3 shots on target with which he earned his hat trick.

Now while I love the way Arsenal play and have great respect for Ronaldo and Drogba, 3 goals from 3 attempts is just silly.

Posted by: Richard Musto | March 06, 2008 at 08:12 AM

has to be torres as he plays for a liverpool team who never play as team at all, imagine the goals he might get if he played for arsenal or man u.

poor old benjani, still stuck on 0 as i write this, u would have thought sven might have voted for him :)
