Who would you like to see face United in the Champions League final?

Manchester United beat Barcelona 1-0 on aggregate to guarantee the first ever all-English Champions League final.

Chelsea and Liverpool do battle at Stamford Bridge tonight for the right to join United in Moscow on May 21, but who would you like to see go through?

Avram Grant's Londoners beat United 2-1 on Saturday thanks to a controversial penalty, a result that reignited the Premier League title race. There was also the tasty altercation between the Chelsea students and several United players who were warming down after the match to add extra spice to a rematch between those two sides.

But there is no more bitter rivalry in English top-flight football than that between the two giants of the North West, Manchester United and Liverpool. Surely there would be no more mouthwatering prospect than those two old foes battling it out behind the old Iron Curtain, with Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea chairman and Muscovite, nothing more than a bemused and perhaps disinterested observer?

Who would you like to see in the final? Vote below and leave us the reason why in the comment field at the bottom of this post.

"Liverpool, because...who cares about Chelsea. No European history to speak of. United versus Liverpool would be monumental. The two most successful sides in English history, and two of the European powerhouses going head to head in the biggest club game of the season. And two managers looking to join the great managers in winning two Champions League trophies, not to mention the bragging rights involved."

That is probably the worst justification that anyone could have given considering the length of it. 'Ohhh lets have a final with Liverpool in because they have history.'
Err no! Nottingham Forest have history too, you wouldnt vouch for them.

Secondly, Liverpool arent 'successful' in the modern era (i.e. the last decade), except for the blip of Athens. Man U, Arsenal, and recently Chelsea are the most successful English sides in recent history. As a side note, history means jack all in the context of present games. Its good for nostalgia but so what? Its the results that are won or lost, today, tomorrow and in the future which are most important.

Secondly, Liverpool really isn't what many would consider a European powerhouse, no disrespect but they so lucky in Europe its a joke (referring to the goal that should never have been, and Arsenal's complete misfortune last month [I don't support Arsenal btw]). A 'European powerhouse' would be a powerhouse in their domestic league, not just European competition. Valenica got to two finals in two years, not a feat even Liverpool have done since the early 80s, yet they won nothing domestically both seasons. Were they a 'European powerhouse'? No. Quite simply, the class of team is defined by how they perform for the length of the season, not just the odd 90 minutes every couple of weeks

I don't mean to sound critical of Liverpool, afterall, as you say Gavin, they've achieved a lot more in their history than all but a few clubs. But as for the final, Chelsea and Man U is by far the more tantalising prospect and more reflective of clubs who truly deserve to be there.

Rob Cieka, I'm the same. Beating Liverpool would be immense but losing to them would be trajic. Chelsea are a far tougher proposition but losing to them would be easier to take than losing to the scousers.

I'd rather Liverpool if push comes to shove. Far more beatable they are essentially flawed team at the top. Mark Torres tighly and they run out of ideas quite quickly. Scholes,Carrick and Anderson have the beating of Liverpool in midfield.........

Chelsea of course. Besides their 'istorie' (more a hystery) Liverpool has no right to be in a CL final. ManU and Chelsea compete for PL and CL, while Liverpool are resting their players and show their disrespect for the PL. And actually it would be a very boring final, seeing Liverpool getting overrun by ManU. Only Chelsea is capable to give ManU a tough game as they proved on saturday.

I love the way Gavin Hall compares Man Utd's history in the same light as Liverpool's when it comes to European. Who are you kidding chap. Chelsea to stroll home tonight and win in Moscow.

I'n not quite sure about this one. I think we'd have more chance of beating Liverpool, which would also be the sweetest of victories. But losing to Chelsea would also be a lot easier to take than losing to the scousers.
