Bill Edgar's Thursday trivia question

Question: Chelsea and Liverpool have played in extra-time in a Champions League semi-final for two successive seasons. When was the previous time that a semi-final in Europe’s leading club competition went to extra-time?

Yesterday we asked you: Which two English league clubs met in five different competitions between October 1984 and September 1985?

Answer: Everton and Manchester United met in the league, FA Cup, League Cup, Charity Shield and Screensport Super Cup (a competition for the six clubs denied a place in Europe by the post-Heysel ban on English clubs).
