How the world saw the Champions League final
With interest in the Champions League reaching fever pitch in the UK, last night's game has also elicited a huge amount of interest globally.
Here is a small selection of what the world's media had to say about the game this morning.
The Jerusalem Post understandably had some sympathy for Chelsea manager Avram Grant who had come "so close to glory... but he may find it was his last chance to have a significant impact at the top of the game."
Acccording to the New York Times, Manchester United had won Europe’s most coveted athletic prize, while the Toronto Sun went for the more nostalgic headline "Reds reign in Russia"
Central News Asia reported fights breaking out in the Russian capital between English fans, although Vyacheslav Kozlov, the Moscow police chief, is quoted as saying: "There have been no serious excesses."
However, TVNZ.com said that Moscow had been praised for calm and that on the whole there had been very little trouble between the two sets of supporters.
On the other hand, the Moscow Times was pleased that much criticised pitch had held up despite players cramping up in the second half.
Meanwhile. Milan based Gazzetta dello Sport led with reports that Frank Lampard's move to Inter was a step closer following the Chelsea midfielder's final heartbreak.
While Madrid's Marca planted a large fly in United's ointment as Vincente Calderon, Real Madrid's President announces that they will pay whatever it takes if Cristiano Ronaldo wants to join them.
