To Danny, Matt H here. I'm a palace fan mate...send your annoyance to Sam...he's the anti palace man here!

I have to admit, I haven't seen much Championship football. Being an Aston Villa Fan I've beenm looking a bit further up than the lowly positions below us. Nevertheless, given the parts I have seen, I'm confident that Palace will be the team to beat if any of the other are to reach the premiership. I'm curious by the comment from Sam saying that Palace are a "one dimensional, long ball team" becuase by everyone else's account it seems that Stoke have played the exact same way and have made it to the big league automatically?? Doesn't that tell you something about the teams that can play that way? Godd luck to all the teams in the play-offs. See one of you next season! Up the Villa for Europe!

To Matt H:

What are you talking about?

If you'd bothered to pay any attention to the promotion race atall you would see that since the introduction of players like Moses & Scannell Palace have been playing a fantastic style of football that includes variety and short, attacking passing manouvers which are splitting teams apart at the moment.

The playoffs won't necessarily be decided by the best team, they'll be won by the team in the best form. And unless City and Watford raise their game a Hull Palace final is practically a forgone conclusion...

Watford raise their game when it matters. They have a perfect record in the play-offs.

I believe they will fulfill Graham Taylor's telling comment that they are a "yo-yo club". Another single season in the Prem and then back again!

Being a Watford supporter is an exciting life!!

Come on Tigers. Would be great to see ancients Barmby, Okocha and Windass in the Prem next year.

Hull and Palace are the only 2 teams that are scoring lots and regularly. It'll be a tight final between the 2, but I can see the dogged determination of Palace shining through. The future's bright, the chairman's orange!

"every football purist in the country has to be behind them now"???. Crystal Palace are a one dimensional, long ball team and the premiership will be better off without them.

Posted by: Sam | May 06, 2008 at 01:36 PM

Watford and Hull would have been favourites a couple of months ago but who can look past Crystal Palace now with their terrific form, dynamic midfield and miserly defence (not to mention the most competent and experienced manager of the four in question). The play-offs are always a gamble and Palace shouldn't get ahead of themselves, but every football purist in the country has to be behind them now.

Palace are playing an excellent brand of football these days with a mix of vibrant and fearless youngsters combined with experienced older players. I think they can win the play-offs and go on to a respectable mid-table finish in the premier division.
