The Liverpool manager risks jeopardising the new-found harmony in the club's boardroom as he outlines potential signings. He wants David Villa, Daniel Alves, David Silva (right) and Gareth Barry and £50 million to cover the cost of signing them.
Mining for Silva - The Sun
Arsene Wenger wants Valencia's David Silva to replace Alexander Hleb, who has been linked to Barcelona. The Arsenal manager is attracted by Spain midfielder's versatility and won't be put off by his £20m price tag.
We won't pay £80m - The Sun
Yesterday, they were happy to break the world transfer record but now Real Madrid have ruled out a mega-bid for the Manchester United winger. Ramon Calderon, the Real president, says he would never pay £80m for a player, but he is still hopeful that United will allow Ronaldo to join them.
Tottenham plan to replace Robinson with £10m Gomes - The Guardian
Juande Ramos is pursuing Heurelho Gomes, PSV Eindhoven's Brazilian goalkeeper, as a replacement for Paul Robinson.
Spurs Viv bid - The Sun
Ramos is also keen on Emiliano Viviano, the Brescia and Italy under-21 'keeper. Tottenham have bid £9.6m for the 6ft 5in stopper.
Milan concede defeat over Adebayor deal - The Daily Telegraph
Adriano Galliani, the AC Milan vice-president, has encountered stern resistence from Arsenal in their attempt to prise the Togo striker away from the Emirates Stadium.
Ramos aims to lure £8m prodigy Capel from Seville - The Independent
Tottenham are also on the trail of Diego Capel, Seville's 20-year-old left winger. Capel established himself at the Spanish club when Ramos was in charge.
Bentley bid rejected - Daily Mail
Blackburn have turned down a £15m offer from Aston Villa for their England winger. Talks stalled despite the Villa opening discussion with the player's advisers.
Anton's £8m tag - Daily Mirror
West Ham have made it plain that they don't want to lose the centre-half by pricing him £2m higher than Aston Villa are prepared to pay. The Midlands club want to give Martin Laursen and Zat Knight some experienced competition.
Megson plots record £11m bid for Elmander - Daily Mirror
Bolton hope to get Toulouse to lower their £16m evaluation for the Swedish forward as they look to replace Nicolas Anelka.

Sheffield Wednesday are poised to sign the free-agent from Sheffield United. The striker has agreed personal terms and is expected to undergo a medical in the next 24 hours.

I think Liverpool may have a bit of an issue signing Daniel Alves when he's already gone to Barcelona. And besides, given that Alves went for around £23M, how was Rafa supposed to sign Villa, Barry and Silva for a combined total of £27M. Lazy journalism from the Mirror as always

Liverpool don't need Barry. He is horribly overpriced and nowhere near as good as Alonso, whom Benitez seems determined to sell. Keep Xabi, get David Villa and play him and Torres up front, keeping Gerrard centre-mid. The 4-5-1 (Torres as lone striker) formation doesn't work against good defences e.g Man U but they would struggle to cope with Torres and Villa plus Gerrard in an attacking support role.
