Wednesday's transfer gossip: Chelsea to make Lampard Britain's highest paid player

In a bid to end Inter Milan’s interest in the player, Chelsea have offered Frank a £39m, five-year deal, which will make him Britain's highest-paid footballer.

Robinho ready to replace Drobga – Daily Mirror
The Real Madrid forward could be poised to sign for Chelsea in a £40m deal with Didier Drogba ready to join Barcelona.

Striker light, Rafa – The Sun
Rafael Benitez, the Liverpool manager, is convinced he will sign Robbie Keane in the next few days.

Curbs is on Cisse alert – Daily Express
West Ham United are weighing up an £8m for Djibril Cisse, the Marseille forward, and have been given ten days to complete the deal by the French club.

Mark Hughes, the Manchester City manager, is also set to make a shock bid to bring Cisse, the former Liverpool striker, back to the Premier League.

Hughes is also considering a move for Roque Santa Cruz after being hit by an injury crisis.

The Newcastle boss has offered £5m plus Charles N'Zogbia for Aiden McGeady, the Celtic winger.

Harry Redknapp has told Jose Mourinho, the Inter Milan manager, that midfielder Sulley Muntari is not for sale.

Hammers beat rivals to sign Berrami from Lazio – The Independent
West Ham will complete their first major signing of the summer with the £5m acquisition of Valon Behrami from Lazio.

Steve Bruce will offer Fulham £3m to bring Jimmy Bullard back to Wigan Athletic.

Brum joy for Taylor -  Daily Mirror
Birmingham have told QPR to forget about signing Martin Taylor.

The Blackburn Rovers manager wants to make Carlos Villenueva, the Chile midfielder, his first signing.
