Wednesday's transfer gossip - Arsenal in move for Silvestre

MikaelsilvestrepaHere's our round-up of all today's transfer rumours, including Arsenal's tracking of a Manchester United defender, Roy Keane's continued search for a new striker and an Ipswich player's announcement that he is leaving the club via the internet.

Arsene gets a Silve! - The Sun
Arsenal have hijacked Manchester City's bid to sign Mikael Silvestre after the French defender abandoned plans to join City to talk terms with Arsene Wenger instead.

Gunners in shock move for Silvestre - Daily Mail
Silvestre also planned a trip to Sunderland before being alerted to Arsenal's interest. He is expected to cost £750,000.

Juventus will allow the Portugese midfielder to join Everton on a season-long loan, with a possible permanent £13million transfer at the end of his stay.

Tiago's reluctance to return to England threatens Everton deal - The Independent                         However, the former Chelsea midfielder, is reluctant to return to Premier League.

Arsenal snubbed 'greedy' Arshavin - Daily Express                                                                            The Russian playmaker's agent said his client priced himself of a £15m move to the Emirates because his wage demands were too high.

Borja in the bag - The Sun                                                                                                           West Brom have secured the former Real Madrid midfielder for a club record fee of £4.9m.            

Rafa wings in on Riera - The Sun                                                                                            Liverpool manager has made the Espanyol winger his top target to add quality to the team's left flank.

Magilton calls off signing of Ameobi after medical - The Independent                                                  Transfer to Ipswich breaks down after medical reveals Newcastle striker has a hamstring injury.

Restless Bruce trapped by web - Daily Mirror                                                                                   More trouble for the Tractor Boys as a Facebook message from the Ipswich defender to his close friends reveals an intention to quit the club.

Nightmare for United. Silvestre is a brilliant player - calm, composed, makes great use fo the ball, bags of pace. I'd have had him in ahead of Vidic!

Is Arsene signing Silvestre only because he needs a second left back. Glichy is a capable player for Arsenal plus Amand Traore is coming up as a capable player as well.
