Transfer gossip: Jermaine Jenas faces Spurs KO
The pick of the transfer stories from today's other newspapers, plus our verdict on just how probable they are.
Jenas faces Harry KO - Daily Mirror
The England midfielder looks set to leave Spurs after being stripped of the vice-captaincy.
Verdict: 4 (out of ten)
Tottenham definitely need a more combative central midfield player, but would he play with or in place of Jenas? Jenas was a significant part of Tottenham winning the Carling Cup last season, but he has been disappointing this term.
Special K on Villa menu - Daily Mirror
Martin O'Neill is prepared to offer Sunderland £12m for Kenwyne Jones.
Verdict: 5
Villa are looking for a burly target man, and with Heskey likely to stay, there are few alternatives. Jones is one, but would Sunderland let him go when they are facing a relegation fight? Probably not.
Bellamy on point of joining City for £12m - The Independent
The West Ham forward is close to leaving the club after Mark Hughes increased his offer.
Verdict: 7
If City offer around £14million, the deal will be completed.
Heskey Kops a deal - Daily Mail
The Wigan forward has agreed a pre-contract deal to return to Liverpool in the summer.
Verdict: 5
They say you should never go back, and would he be a starting choice at Anfield? Heskey can agree an option, but he can only sign a pre-contract with a foreign club, so more likely his future will be resolved closer to the summer when he is out of contract.
He's struggling but Newcastle go for Jo - Daily Mail
Joe Kinnear wants to take the Brazilian on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.
Verdict: 4
City would not release a forward to their relegation rivals and can afford not to worry about the impact of Jo on their wage bill. Staying up is key.
Pompey Ben bid - The Sun
Tony Adams will offer Manchester City £6m for Benjani Mwaruwari and Michael Johnson.
Verdict: 4
Portsmouth may not have £6million to spend, but Benjani’s return has some sense to it. The forward has hardly impressed since he moved to City in January, but would City allow the forward to help a relegation rival?
