Transfer deadline day deals
17.30 GMT: Could there be a late fly in the ointment for the Arshavin deal? A Zenit spokesman has been quoted as saying the clubs have failed to reach a deal over the amount of compensation the player needed to pay the Russian side to faciliate the transfer. So has the transfer broken down at the very last moment after so many twists and turns? Agony for Arsenal fans and even more so for the player himself. Zenit have announced they are due to make a statement about the saga at around 7pm.
Much better news for Spurs who have completed the deal to bring Robbie Keane back to the club, just six months after he joined Liverpool for £20m. Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, claims he never wanted the Irishman to leave in the first place, although Keane could now achieve the unlikely double of getting a Premier League winners' medal and face being relegated in the same season.
17.15 GMT: A couple of Championship moves have dribbled in late, Claude Davis has joined up once more with Neil Warnock at Crystal Palace from Derby while Michael Chopra has gone back to Cardiff City on loan from Sunderland.
17.00 GMT: That's alll folks, the window is officially closed but remember deals will continue to be done after the Premier League allowed special dispensation because of the weather.
The two big stories - Andrei Arshavin to Arsenal and Robbie Keane to Spurs are yet to be confirmed and we won't go anywhere until they do. Otherwise the Quaresma to Chelsea story continues to bubble under, while Jo to Everton, Olivier Dacourt to Fulham and Charles N'Zogbia's £6m move to Wigan are today's other notable deals.
16.50 GMT: Everton, not content with just the one striker have made a late bid to sign former Germany international Kevin Kuranyi.
16.45 GMT: Just fifteen minutes left and Man City are now denying that they have made an increased offer for Roque Santa Cruz. Will there be any surprise last-minute deals?
16.35 GMT: Reports are suggesting that while Spurs are feeling smug about re-signing Robbie Keane, Chelsea have sneaked round the back and are about to scupper the Ricardo Quaresma deal.
16.25 GMT: The Arshavin saga is coming to an end as the player has passed a medical. Phew. Olivier Dacourt has also passed his and is now officially a Fulham player and Danny Murphy has put pen to paper on a new contract at Craven Cottage on what has turned out to be a decent day's work for Roy Hodgson. Conversely, Newcastle have had an £8m bid for Michael Johnson turned down by Manchester City and seen a further £8m bid for an unnamed midfield player also rejected. Clearly not Joe Kinnear's day.
16.10 GMT: Apparently Zenit want 50 per cent of Arshavin's signing-on fee so Arsenal have just under fifty minutes to sort that one out. Meanwhile, Manchester City who have conspicuously failed to bid for Ronaldo, Messi or Buffon, could be set to increase their bid for Roque Santa Cruz. Madness, sheer madness. Back in the real world, West Brom have signed midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu on loan from Paris St Germain until the end of the season.
16.00 GMT: Robbie Keane update - it's official, the Irishman looks set to complete his shock return to North London after Liverpool and Spurs agreed a fee. Also Arsenal and Zenit have agreed a fee plus personal terms for Arshavin but are still haggling over the money the Russia captain owes his club for who knows what.
15.50 GMT: After a brief lull in proceedings, Wigan have confirmed the signing of Charles N'Zogbia on a three year deal with Ryan Taylor moving in the opposite direction. Taylor, hardly known as a prolific marksman, has scored in his last four matches against Newcastle for Wigan so let's hope he knows where the right end is at St James' Park. N'Zogbia, meanwhile, has pledged to give part of his last wage packet from Newcastle to Bobby Robson's cancer charity, although whether that will appease the Geordie fans who have been booing him recently is a moot point
15.30 GMT: Giovani dos Santos won't be making a £7million move from Spurs to Portsmouth because he is not match fit, which seems quite ridiculous for a professional footballer. Tony Adams is not having a lot of luck today, which isn't good news with Avram Grant linked with a return to the club to replace him.
15.15 GMT: Newcastle have very quickly denied that the Martins/Bent swap was ever on the cards, although admittedly it did seem a little strange. Just an hour and three-quarters before the madness ends, weather permitting.
15.05 GMT: Anything 'Arry can do, it appears Tony Adams can't, as his attempt to bring back Pompey old boy Gary O'Neil back to Fratton Park from Middlesbrough in a cash-plus-player deal ends in failure.
14.50 GMT: Poor Darren Bent doesn't seem to know where he's going - Newcastle have failed to swap him for Obafemi Martins. Fulham have been busy adding to their ranks - bringing in tricky winger Julian Gray back to the Premier League from Coventry.
14.45 GMT: Obviously they do because Sky are now reporting that Arsenal and Zenit are "very close' to agreeing a deal, the sticking point being not personal terms, nor the fee, but monies the Russian club feel they are owed by the player himself. Am I the only one getting a little fed up with this to-ing and fro-ing? He better be good after all this.
14.35 GMT: Punters still appear to think that Arshavin will join Arsenal, despite comments coming out of both North London and St Petersburg. Do they know something we don't? Meanwhile, West Ham defender Calum Davenport is done with picking bench splinters out of his shorts at Upton Park and is on his way to join the Sbragia revolution at Sunderland.
14.20 GMT: The Premier League have granted dispensation for deals to be done AFTER the 5pm deadline, providing there is e-mail evidence that there has been a deal struck between the two clubs. Also, the buying club must prove that it was the prevailing weather conditions that were responsible for the deal not being done in time. Which sounds like a lot of fun for lawyers.
14.15 GMT: Roque update - It looks the Paraguayan won't be moving to Manchester after City decided not to take a £25 million option on him. That for a player who cost Blackburn just £3.8m a year-and-a-half ago. Unbelievable.
Also Jo, left, can take a break from muttering about Mark Hughes with Elano and give Tim Cahill a helping hand after completing his loan move to Everton until the end of the season.
14.00 GMT: After weeks of denials, Liverpool have finally confirmed that Robbie Keane is very likely to rejoin Spurs. It seems that 'Arry is hellbent on restoring the old order at White Hart Lane, although rumours of bids for Ossie Ardiles, Ralph Coates and Pat Jennings remain unsubstantiated.
13.50 GMT: Henri Camara has moved on loan to Stoke from Wigan, who will be slightly bereft in the striking department following Emile Heskey's move to Aston Villa unless they move sharpish. Blackburn has been dealt a blow with the news that Brett Emerton will be out for six months after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury on Saturday. Still got three hours yet to fill that gap then Sam.
13.30 GMT: It's been eerily quiet on the Manchester City front, with the only news that Blackburn still require more money if they're to part with Roque Santa Cruz. Mind you, City pulled off the Robinho transfer coup at the last moment in August so plenty of time yet.
13.15 GMT: Danish defender Leon Andreasen's rather low key spell at Fulham has come to an end, with a loan move to Hannover 96 with a view to a permanent deal.
It seems 'Arry will be the busiest manager today, with Spurs likely to offload Giovani dos Santos, right, to his old club Portsmouth on loan amongst much other frantic wheeling and dealing.
13.00 GMT: Tony Adams' future may be in doubt at Portsmouth but that hasn't stopped the south-coast club opening the cheque book again, following up yesterday's signing of Greek striker Theofanis Gekas with the capture of countryman Angelos Basinas from AEK Athens on an 18-month deal. The 33-year-old Greek captain has 97 caps and helped his country win the European Championships in 2004.
12.45 GMT: Robbie Keane update: The Liverpool striker is expected to have a medical at Spurs this afternoon which suggests that he won't be relying on public transport to get there. However, sources say the two clubs are still someway apart on their valuation of the player.
Spurs may have to part with Jermaine Jenas OR David Bentley if they want to secure Inter's Ricardo Quaresma.
Charles N'Zogbia is also being put through his paces by Wigan which may be a relief to both himself and Joe Kinnear.
12.35 GMT: Sky are now claiming that Arsenal "cannot afford" Andrei Arshavin, having offered just half of his £15million transfer fee up front.
The player apparently has left his hotel in a huff and hopped on a snowmobile to take him to the nearest airport.
Arsene Wenger said today: "We don't need an instant saviour. I don't believe in them, If he doesn't join us I am not more pessimistic."
Which hardly sounds like he's too worried about it.
12.20 GMT: Wolves have been busy today, securing the services of Hearts captain Christophe Berra, who has signed a four-and-half year deal at Molineux. Maltese striker Michael Mifsud is on his way to Barnsley while Brazilian striker Jo, tired of bench-warming at the City of Manchester Stadium, is having a medical ahead of loan switch to Everton.
12.05 GMT: Former Everton and Leeds midfielder Olivier Dacourt is set to continue his yo-yo love affair with the Premier League. The Inter Milan hardman is currently having a medical at Fulham.
11.55 GMT: More disappointment for Arsenal as tomorrow's FA Cup fourth round replay with Cardiff at the Emirates has already fallen foul of the weather. Also defender Micky Gray has completed a move from Wolves to Sheffield Wednesday.
11.50 GMT: Some sad news coming out of Villa Park that former Villa and Wolves midfielder Paul Birch has lost his battle with cancer today at the age of 46.
11.35 GMT: The Premier League are in talks with the FA and Fifa about extending the transfer deadline past 5pm, depending on how many deals are in the pipeline. No decision has been made at present.
Meanwhile, Newcastle have been linked with a surprise move for highly rated Manchester City youngster Michael Johnson, while Charles 'Insomnia' N'Zogbia is expected to complete his escape from St James' Park to the JJB Stadium.
11.20 GMT: No doubt the weather is playing havoc with many Premier League clubs' transfer plans, which may explain why the biggest deal of the day so far is Rangers striker Alan Gow making a loan move to Norwich City.
Robbie Keane is reported to be on his way to London, possibly by
husky, to complete a sensational return to Spurs, whilst the unsettled Darren Bent is
attracting interest from Newcastle, Blackburn and striker-less Everton.
Confusion reigns over Andrei Arshavin on/off move to Arsenal with several pundits suggesting the deal could still be resurrected, especially if the Russian international is unable to leave the country.
11.05 GMT: Inter Milan have left Portugal midfielder Ricardo Quaresma out of their Champions League squad and Jose Mourinho could swap him for Tottenham's equally out of favour Jermaine Jenas.
10.40 GMT: Sky are now reporting that Arshavin has had one look at his prospective pay-packet and hot-footed back to the airport, which possibly isn’t too smart a move right now.
Meanwhile the veteran Italy and Roma defender Christian Panucci has decided against a move to Hull, maybe after seeing the weather forecast in the North East.
It looks like Tottenham aren’t at all keen on letting speedy winger Lennon go to Anfield and have upped their cash bid to bring Robbie Keane back to White Hart Lane.
10.15 GMT: The country may be grinding to a standstill but football carries on regardless. Premier League and Scottish Premier League clubs have until 5pm GMT to sign players after which the window slams shut until July 1.
Big possible moves today include Andrei Arsahvin, who is expected to complete a move from Zenit St Petersburg to Arsenal today and at least should be used to the weather.
Rumours still abound that Robbie Keane could be making his way back to Tottenham with Aaron Lennon moving to Liverpool as part of the deal, while Everton are set to boost their meagre striking resources by signing Manchester City foward Jo on loan.
Weather permitting, we’ll keep you up to date on what promises to be a frantic and enthralling day's dealing on the transfer front.

I think this 'deadline' page is a super idea, will make the whole day very exciting.
I don't think Wenger will be too worried if the deal doesn't happen, he has never been a great fan of this transfer window anyway.

What are Man City doing? They need Given, need a mighty defender, need a rock solid ball-winning midfielder and a top attacker. Ibrahim Affamy of Feyernoord is an amazing little player. Get him now before Wenger gets him.

The mid season transfer window is similar to the winter sales; buyers scrambling to get a bargain from the pile of unsold goods piled up, sometimes squabbling over the same item or trying to grab it from someone else.
In all this wheeling and dealing have teams really done their home work and planned to bring in new players to fit into the team? Or perhaps it is agents looking to make more fees for the players and themselves or to appease supporters baying for results and trophies. Either way the game has become a business.
I feel sorry for genuine supporters, especially kids whose favorite players come and go obliging parents to buy more team jerseys, and whose teams are transformed in the middle of the season which distorts what is left of the sport and loyalty to a club
