The Saffron Revolution?

Monks_burma2

"It is a fascinating moment, fraught with promise, when this spirit of the times, dozing pitifully and apathetically, like a huge wet bird on a branch, suddenly and without a clear reason ... takes off in bold and joyful flight. We all hear the shush of this flight. It stirs our imagination and gives us energy: we begin to act."

Ryszard Kapuscinski

A moment to celebrate the courage and coordination of Peace.

Yes Ryszard Kapuscinski. The beginning of a "whole" way to learn is with the Saffron Revolution.

May all time reward this moment with its eternal LOVE.

If we oppose terrorism by every means, we should support this un-terrorism by every means.

Truly a barefoot revolution! This is an uplifting sight indeed to see Blatant brutality accosted by shear purpose and peace in action. How do you believe the monks will regard the Junta when he steps down, for I do not believe he will be dragged out of his seat by these robed demonstrators? The question I pose is how will a military figurehead end his career if not in death? By Exile perhaps... But how? I pray for this to be an exultatious revolution achieved with the power of Peaceful action

What total moral masturbation and high hypocrisy from the British.
Have the British forgotten the millions of pounds of arms deals signed with Burmese generals or their Spitfires strafing thousands of fleeing Indonesian civilians during our legitimate Independence Struggle where Britain's disproprtionate military force was an attempt quell the freedom of a long oppressed people?
Or is it because Aung San Su Kyi is darling daughter of a collaborator general?
We Indonesians know how best to treat British moral smugness and neo-colonialism- we burnt you out. Merdeka Myanmar! Membinaskan Neo-Kolonialisma Inggris!
Free Burma! Destroy British Neo-Colonialism!

Unfortunatly the "shushe" of it's wings will be drowned out by the hundreds or if, like the last terrible event, thousands of unarmed people being shot and bayoneted in the streets.Men, women and children begging for freedom in a land where rationing is an everyday occurance, shortages of the most fundamental basic necessities, where the well provisioned military officers and members of the government can shop at luxury state run shops and can afford the little luxury items which can cost in excess of two years wages for the normal workers. With no hope in sight for change, censured news from the media, with daily abuses and atrocities, getting out of Burma is the one aim of most young people,Tow the line and pray you are from a well conected family,a job on a cargo ship or perhaps you might get a job in the BBC, ( that will take a HUGE amount of butt kissing, must remain on the very best behaviour once you've got the job though, musn't rock the boat, not if I want to keep this well paid job)or try for the US, over the border to Thailand, perhaps, but wait, when you have no foreign currency,??? The situation is hopeless,

Perhaps we could all try and get these poor folk a better life somehow and prevent them geting shot .. PLEASE.

The reason why this will fail is because the majority of the people simply are not involved in the revolution.

before anyone asks; its for the Mayanmarese people to decide their future, not for its neighbours to interfear.

And if liberals in Europe and some in the USA want to boycott Indian and Chinese goods then go for it as YOU are in the MINORITY in your own countries.
