Speeches from New Hampshire

Bloghead_anna_2

Clinton: ‘Found my own voice’
Hillary Clinton:"I found my own voice"

"So we're going to take what we've learned here in New Hampshire, and we're going to rally on and make our case. We are in it for the long run. And that is because we are in it for the American people."

Obama: ‘Still fired up, ready to go’
Obama:"‘I'm still fired up, ready to go"

"But the reason our campaign has always been different, the reason we began this improbable journey almost a year ago, is because it's not just about what I will do as president. It is also about what you, the people who love this country, the citizens of the United States of America, can do to change it. That's what this election is all about."

Republican or Democrat, Americans are yearning for a fundamental change. The outlook has bleaker. And so, Barak Obama appeals to our desire to end the current state acrimony and despondency. He appeals to our inner optimism.

So, I'm surprised Hillary won in New Hampshire. The Iowa caucuses are an aberration in terms of how they are conducted. New Hampshire is a larger state than Iowa and has more independents. Those facts about NH don't bode well for Obama's candidacy. We will see.

On the other hand, his success in Iowa, a state which is 97% white, shows that the race issue is moot. The race has shown itself to be very fluid. It's not over yet and the race, in both parties, remains dynamic.

IT IS A MATTER OF TRUST. I TRUST HILLERY TO WORK FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS AND OTHERS WHO NEED HELP.JUST LIKE SHE HAS BEEN DOING FOR 35 YEARS.

I am writing this as a young Black-British, sat in an attic in Palmers Green, North London. This is how far reaching the spirit of Obama, the effects of his running for presidency and the once implausible and now glorious possibility of him winning, is far more reaching than the shores of America.
It will touch the souls and prick the aspirations of every ethnic minority who have felt held down by the statuesque.

However, this is not Obama’s message, this is not what his race is about. He is paving the way and creating anew language that is post Civil Rights, Women’s Lib and Gay Rights movement and transcends blue/red divides.

I am writing from a generation that is the benefactor and result of all those fights and we are looking for a language that is truly ours. Upon till now we been borrowing the language of our parents and quoting from the likes of John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King and though we indebted and grateful to them, their struggles are no longer ours.

Obama’s massage is of unity and change. So far the fruits of our fathers and indeed our mothers have remained in separate fruit baskets. The world is looking for a leader who can unite and blend them sensitivity and understanding.
