Ten must-see Jeremiah Wright videos (updated)

Blog_hstrange_2 Here's a selection of the top ten must-see videos on the Reverend Wright controversy currently circulating on the web. From the soundbites that triggered the current dispute to Wright's more glorious moments, with some surprising reactions too (ever expect to hear Mike Huckabee defending Obama's pastor? Watch on).

Update: Some readers have asked me to post a fuller version of the 9/11 sermon, in which Rev. Wright attributes the "chickens coming home to roost" quote to Edward Peck, a US ambassador. Happy to oblige. This one is first, followed by the "God damn America" quote in context. Then scroll down for the original ten.

Exactly what do people find inflammatory? Everything the pastor says is true. No doubt the moderator will not let this comment go through, but if she does, post your responses here:

Without a scandal nobody can exist, it seems. This is also true for small communities, and in the United States probably due to a kind of radical sense of humour from overacting and overstatement, unlike the British sense of humour which is the reverse, and based on underacting and understatement. The closer you get, also in intimate relation, the more repulsed you get. I don't see the point. But I understand why someone unnamed said once it is better to rouse a big scandal than a small one. The smaller ones take more time.

Too bad so many of the clips are surrounded by Fox "News" commentary. Fox can always be counted on to slant their comments toward the most banal conservative and republican talking points.

Posted by: Paul | 20 March 2008 at 07:06 PM

I have always believed the Times Newspaper to be a serious newsprint. Now, I understand what it means to be unloved by Murdoch! Barak Obama is berated constantly by the media empire of the Murdoch American press and the vendetta is becoming all too obviuos. The Fox news media is so agressively anti Obama, now this newspaper - steeped in professional journalistic principles(or so I naively thought) is now been used as the propaganda tool of Republicans abroad.

Actually, none of these are must see viewing. This pastor is already retired and he is not running for political office. Sen. McCain has also been endorsed by controversial religious leaders (Rev. Hagee, televangelist Pat Robertson), but has yet to renounce their bigoted remarks.

Sen. Obama gave a thoughtful and clarifying address about his reasons for belonging to this congregation. But he's spent much time in Washington, DC and on the road and heard some, not all, of the controversial remarks.

This whole issue is a red herring. We need to focus on our wars and our economy.

I'm actually quite impressed with the breadth of these comments. The selection of the 10 videos provides more of a balanced perspective than I was expecting. This makes iteresting viewing and I encourage readers to go through more than just the top one or two videos. The reactions from McCain, Huckabee and the new Trinity Pastor are worth seeing.

Firstly, it is typical political strategy to hold Mr. Obama accountable for Rev. Wright's comments. What Rev. Wright said has not changed my support of Mr. Obama. The experiences of African Americans in America are fairly well documented. Not much has changed for the better. I have personally and almost consistently faced intensive racism in the workplace despite my education and credentials to the point where I have filed and won federal court lawsuits. I have personally witnessed and protested against disparaties in the public schools (Pennsylvania) that injure talented black children educationally and emotionally for the purpose of exalting average achieving white children. Personally I have been wrongfully harassed and charged by the police while riding legally through a small predominantly white town in PA. I am a 40 something black woman. America is yet jacked up and more and more nations of the world are lashing out and tired of the arrogance. A change is needed. Perhaps Obama is part of the answer right now. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called America out 40 years ago. If America does not repent of its sins, God will surely bring judgement. Rev. Wright need not damn America because America is damning itself.

Posted by: Ann Womack | 21 March 2008 at 01:07 AM

I think Rev. Scott said it all. I was shocked by Rev. Wright's remarks but then I don't have his history. Getting all this out in the open is the best thing that could happen to our country.

Otis Moss, It only takes a SOUND BITE to show the true character of a man, and that my dear is all Jeremiah Wright is, A MAN (NOT A PASTOR). A pastor is someone called by GOD to teach Christianity, Love and Peace to his fellow man. This enitity is evil and filled with Hate and outrage for his fellow man and America. I thank GOD ALMIGHTY this came to everyones attention before his follower Barack Obama became this nations next President!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!!

Based on my past experience and these videos, it is apparent that after over 300 years no matter what anyone else does who is not black will be paying for what happened to the blacks who were brought to America by a few people we are no longer responsible for. It is like anyone who is not black is held responsible for a crime that was done long ago as a form of guilt to be held over the heads of everyone else. How many more years of crying and spreading more hate is it going to take to satisfy this wrong doing to blacks and the rest who have to pay for the greed of a few greedy men in our past! Isn't it about time to bury history where it belongs in a society where Democracy breeds greed for land at the expense of the Indians who were here long before any of the rest of us! We should look at the injustice of all and realize that greed has gotten out of control as well as alcohol and drugs. How long of a look into the past does it take to realize that the only responsible persons for these problems were the greedy people who used the system at that time 300 years ago for gain. Holding the rest of people in America 300 years later for that past crime is simply asurd at best if not rediculous! To impose this hate on everyone else by exposing your past deep seated feelings makes things worse! Especially in a world where people can do nothing about correcting what someone else did or is responsible for!
Really, do I need to say anything more as I now feel like I should fear the rest of my life wondering what some black person will do with this hate generated past Rev Wright has dumped on his and our society! And since healing is something we would all like to eventually happen, do you think that will ever happen with the use of hate to stir up what has happened in the past! Democracy breeds greed and someone is going to get hurt, but do you judge everyone based on that or do you judge those who are responsible. Point the finger at the Bilderberg and the rest of the ones who control the money for they are the ones who make the rules we live and die from!

In the interest of full disclosure, don't you think the entire sermons, which are readily available, should be posted so viewers can put in context what this guy said? Or would you just prefer to fuel hatred rather than understand it?

This is not a defense of Rev. Wright. This is a defense of free speech. Sound bites hurt us all.

I suspect if you were to show a selection of videos from many American Christian preachers, you would raise eyebrows.

The late Jerry "Jabba the Hutt" Falwell used to sell videos at his services that suggested the Clintons had Vince Foster murdered.

Pat Robertson has numerous times blamed specific groups of Americans for bringing on God's vengeance in the form of natural disasters such as hurricanes.

Oral Roberts went up to the "Prayer Tower" at the "university" he named after himself to go on a hunger strike until his faithful fleeced flock coughed up another several million bucks in donations, and they did.

Scientology in the 1960s was everywhere talked of as a cult at best. It actually was widely regarded as an organized fraud and was investigated a number of times in various jurisdictions. Then the miracle of political influence somewhere gave them tax-exempt status with America's Internal Revenue Service, and they became, overnight, a (sort of mainline) religion keeping more out of each fee they charge followers.

Oh, by the way, a former church minister to the Clintons is being tried for child molestation.

This is the link to a part of the Sermon that The Reverend Jeremiah Wright gave and which have been playing continuously on the News.

You will see that he was in fact quoting a WHITE US ambassador who was on Fox News and who had made the comments about 'chickens coming host to roost'.

The media has DELIBERATELY distorted this mans comments in an attempt to damage Obama and cause further race divisions in the US.

I wonder who could possibly have a motive for that?

For anyone who is anyway interested in the truth and being self informed, PLEASE view the link above.

The Media has been biased to Obama all this time and finally something came out that can't deny. Hey CNN,FOX, why don't you whip out the tapes Larry Sinclair sent you? If Hillary even farts it's in the news! Why are you hiding the Larry Sinclair story??? You picked the wrong one to air. You thought the Pastor Wright story was the less damaging of the stories. It didn't work the way you planned, now your in full blown damage control mode but it's too late. Your Golden Boy is done!

I have had the time to look and listen to what the rumpus about Rev Wright said, right wing American claim is anti-patriotic, I am afraid I am like many millions of people around the world who view America as exactly what Rev Wright expressed. The unfortunate thing for many Far Right Americans we now live in the 21th century and what America wants to do is shake off the baggage of the past, without accepting the fact that America has been involved in Genocide around the world, though far right racist dont see killing innocent Palestinians as a problem no more than Linching some poor innocent Black woman or child or man in America, many Blacks go to war only to come back and find they are fighting for freedom in Iraq, only that they have no right inside white America. Black Service man came back from the first Golf War a Documentary on the BBC showed a Black man came back from th Golf war dead and his body was dug up three times because he was black, he was not allowed to be buried in cirtain Cemeteries based on his colour. I met an American service man and I asked him how can you go around the world killing people who has never harmed Black people & the people sending you out to kill people you dont know has done you more harm, when you have no right in the country you live in, how do you do that, he said it is either do that or have no Job, I expressed I could not do it because morally it is wrong and I could not support that, first you must fight for your own right before that of some one else, if your Country do not respect you or your children what could you be fighting for, you are only doing it for money, it is the same as Judas 30 peices of silver it is morrally wrong. So how can Rev Wright be wrong for saying that America has committed Genocide in several countries, and also in Iraq and state sponcered Terrorism against the Palastinians, by giving Money to Israel to occupy the Land of the Plaestinians, and then lie that they have some peace plan, when it is a lie this war has been going on for over 60 years, with no end. I came to America for the first time in 1991 and when I saw the KKK crosses on the Free ways in the deep south I said these people are so religious, because I was young and did not know what it meant, it was when I began to say what my experience was in America I began to understand. It was a few years later I heard about two White men who dragged a disabled Black Man to his death to the point his body was dismembered, Mr Bird, when I think two white people could commit such a crime in the modern age, I can only imagine what Mr Wright knows about that I don't know, and to hear White America complaning that Rev Wright should not speak openly about life in Racist America would be to denigh the Holocust. America is a sick society, and they think covering up their past will help it to go away, well I disagree because one has to come to terms with their past to Change for the future. America can not be in denial, because even if the average American is ignorant of their past, the World is only too aware of the History of American facism and Racial divisions, and more over their sick Racist foreign policies. Quite frankly the sooner the people who support Fox News and the O'Riley's of this world which I would not be surprised if it is Murdoch who thinks Money is more important than Morality, and control the worlds Press, freedom of information is important to Americans because they are living in the Dark ages because most of them don't even know what is going on in their own Country.

I have found on YouTube two videos, one lasting about ten minutes and the other lasting about six minutes, which place the "Goddamn America" and "the country's chickens coming home to roost" soundbites in context. As an old white man who has lived all his life in the Old Conferacy in the U.S., I do not find the entire statements hateful or unpatriotic. I do find the statements truthful and honest.

Some people would rather maintain their pleasant fantasies and attack others, rather than face inconvienent truths.

I can't see what the pastor said that was wrong. One of those people had a so called pastor on denoncing pastor wright, what god doe's he serve the true and living god,or the god of this earth, the bible demonizes women and and the black african, and the dead african worship the white male as god, that image we grew up with of a white jesus has made idiots of the black people of this world and ego maniacs of white people ie EGO easing god out

I have always thought that our personal freedoms are the most important idea for a free society.
If a person expresses a view about things that affect our personal freedoms e.g., GM food, historical events, human embryo experimentation, it must be good to have these things out and talked about.

Let us not be be driven by blind patriotism. Let us behave like intelligent human beings and start question why certain people behave the way they do. In my view, if God is the supreme patron of goodness, and with such a daming record of human rights abuse and mass scale murder ranging from Hiroshima, Vietnam, Iraq, etc. Who in their right mind would ask God to bless America?

Posted by: Nick Obita | 23 March 2008 at 12:19 PM

I understand that you are showing the most viewed videos on youtube.

But, would you please be kind enough to show what pastor wright said leading up to the volatile phrases?

I'm not interested in spreading any agenda, but I am interested in learning the truth, and also would like others be given the same opportunity to learn the whole truth.

Here are two of them. Afer watching them, I find the inflamatory phrases doesn't hold the same meaning as it would have if one watches only those few seconds of the video.

This is the video where the pastor says "america's chickens are coming home to roost". Watch especially at 6:20 that tells why he said all that. He says, 9/11 is not the time for revenge, instead it is a time for self examination. Until 6:20 he is saying what happened. The he says how to respond.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ

This is the one where he said 'God damn america". Watch the whole thing (he praised Clinton) and you will see it in context. When we say God bless america, my understanding is that we are saying, god please bless america. Some people may interpret the phrase 'God bless america" as, god gives his blessings to america because of what america is doing. This pastor is saying God is not blessing america, instead god is damning america for the wrong doings like abortion, bombing hiroshima/nagasaki, putting japanese in prison camps, slavery, etc.

Thank you.

I just watched the video here on AIDS. Why was it "must-see" to witness the pastor getting swabbed with an AIDS test? It was a waste of a few minutes.

Posted by: paul b | 24 March 2008 at 06:28 PM

I have to say that many things where taken out of context by the media. On both sides.

But I have to say that the next to last video clip of Otis Moss disturbed me.

What I recieved from that message was this... It doesnt matter what we say or the hurt that we cause, or the hate that we feel...

but look at our actions for the black community.

It doesnt matter that we hate, look at how we show love to a select group of people.

It doesnt matter that we spread racism. Look at how we help our own people.

Love thy neighbor, unless thy neighbor is white.

Last time I checked, Jesus was not white or black... he was middle eastern. He was a Jew.

What the Rev. Wright said, is what he said. I don't fault him for that. I don't agree with him. I wouldn't sit under his ministry. Then again.. I couldn't because I'm white.

McCain got it right -- this is Obama's pastor after all, not his running mate.

Posted by: Matthew in the US | 24 March 2008 at 06:35 PM

I would appreciate if you would refer your readers to the entire video of Reverend Jeremiah Wright, where it becomes apparent that he was quoting former ambassador Edward Peck, who said that America's "chickens were coming home to roost".... and not the Reverend Wright. It's unfortunately something that the U.S. media left out. The link is at www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOdlnzkeoyQ&feature=related%3C/p%3E or go to YouTube.com and type in "Fox Lies!! Irresponsible Media! Barack obama Pastor Wright" to see the quotes in context. Thank you.

Posted by: Linda from NY | 24 March 2008 at 11:14 PM

What Wright says is not racist. Racist is hanging someone or denying him/her an opportunity.
Nothing he says is incorrect. For example, there is a Israel connection that got us into Iraq. And having this opinion does not make me a prejudiced against Jews, just as criticizing a person who is black, does not make me a racist. Come on let's have a conversation amongs ourselves without name calling.

Posted by: Salvatore Cucinotta | 25 March 2008 at 01:08 AM

this cheap shots and poor journalism. America needs healing. Replaying this videos is counterproductive.America is a great nation, and Americans must grow up, really. In terms of racial behaviour and discourse, Americans seem to remain in the crib and seem to be enjoying life there. Obama has offered the opportunity for a historic spiritual, social and psychological healing. Americans can embrace or reject his prophetic voice. If they choose the latter they embrace the state of political and moral infancy in the eyes of the world. There is a small country in the west coast of Africa. It has a population about 20 million people. It has about 45 diverse ethnic groups. Since her independence from the British empire in 1957, about 180 years after American got her independence from the same British empire. Ghana has managed to embrace her diversity. In this country Christians who are in the majority have lived in harmony with their Moslem neighbours ever since. That small country has managed to avoid the scourge of civil wars which have plagued most her neighbours. She is the first country in Africa to win her political freedom from colonialism. The grave of the first African-American to study in Harvard lies today in Ghana. Kofi Annan, the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations hails from Ghana. When Obama says Americans too “can”, I think he is absolutely right. Dictum sapienti sat es.

Hatred is good for America as long as it is hatred of white people and George Bush?

Posted by: armykungfu | 25 March 2008 at 03:51 PM

Not only was Edward Peck not an ambassador, but he never said America's "chickens were coming home to roost"..

As Reverend Wright himself said, in the infamous clip, those were the words of Malcolm X.

Sadly, those were the same words Malcolm X used to describe the death of President John F. Kennedy.

Read the Dec. 2, 1963 New York Times story:

I can only give my view on these matters.
I am a 40-something, blue-collar, white woman from the center of this country, and no matter how the media wants to portray this, we know that the real question people here have is whether or not people believe that Senator Obama holds the views that are the same as the "sound-bites" of Wright. And it would leave it up in the air if Obama had given us reason to believe that his character was in question, or that his integrity was in question... however, since he has never shown us reason to question those things, we must take him at his word. I'm sorry if this offends you, but the HRC and Clinton "integrity, honesty and truth" meter does not even register! Their bullshit meter is stuck on overload!
For anyone who really cares about Wright's sound-bites, there are sources out there that show the complete statements of Wright, such as the one where he is quoting a white US Ambassador... but these longer, less hostility-brewing statements have little interest for the media or the opposing campaigns as it would only dampen the fire that they use to sell their air-time or increase campaign contributions.
For anyone that has questions about Senator Obama, his issues, his plans, his character or his ability to take this country in a far better direction, please spend all the time you can researching these facts! Don't listen to me, or them, or anyone... find the answers for yourself! One of the (many) reasons we support this man is because we want to restore our long forsaken place as a good citizen in the global community! For those of us here in the US that care about the best person getting this job, for those of us that keep our ears and eyes open for all facts, but refuse to let ourselves be duped by the media or those spewing smears or rhetoric, know that many of us who are well versed in the facts here, support Barack Obama with all our hearts and will assist this man by helping to get the facts out so that you can make your own decision when you have all the information! When you have all the facts, I have little doubt as to who you will support.... but I will leave the final answer to you.

Posted by: Susan from Nebraska, USA | 25 March 2008 at 05:47 PM

Uh... did you look that up?
Ambassador Edward Peck, who Wright mistakingly called Ambassador (Anthony) Peck, was the man that first spoke these comments, and whom Wright was quoting and paraphrasing during one of the more notoriously edited "sound-bites". Yes, AMBASSADOR EDWARD PECK!

Please research your information before you use false or misleading information to further your beliefs and causes.
If you base your "So there!" statements in false information that you either bought willingly like the other "sheep", were too lazy to research on your own, or knowingly falsly purport as fact; it shows the desperation some feel as they are trying to end the hope of America!

Posted by: Susan from Nebraska, USA | 25 March 2008 at 06:57 PM

The great thing about America is that we still(or do we?) have the freedom of speech. "Rev" Wright has a right to speak freely, and I disagree with his views and laugh hysterically at the sensationalism with which his sermons are laced. I can only hope that he realizes before death that the very country, forefathers, patriots and foreign policy that he mocks has afforded him this freedom along with countless others. Dare I say that if our "chickens are coming home to roost" I'd love to see him and other radical whiners out of our hen house effective immediately.

Black people suck it up! Slavery is over! Stop holding on to your past and set that anger inside you be free. Not only black people were slaved, not only black people were snatched from their rights, not only black people were discriminated in history, but any other race, color and religion were discriminated against at one point. Not only black people were slaves, So white people, middle easterns, persian, turkish. Each civilization was slaved at one point. The rest oft he world decided to move on and better their lives but black people still did not. They have it embedded into their brains, they tend to blame their failure on their colors. We are in the 21st century, color, race and religion is no longer an obstacle. So black people suck it up and move on. America is the country of opportunity, you have the chance to excel and excel good its up to you to do so not the government nor the white man is responsible for your failure or success.

It's no wonder why most black people have simmering suspicions or even hatred toward their country. Their lack of education and understanding of historical context is astounding. Is it really possible that someone from this church is going to be our president? God help us.

"Come on now, brotha! Preach it! Yeah! Right On!!" How embarrassing.

Obama's spiritual leader truly has his congregation on a path to healing. I just don't understand what the point is of all this racial demagoguery. How is this supposed to help get past race?

Oh wait, I forgot. Liberals don't want to get past race. They want to leverage race to their own advantage instead of adopting a truly color blind mentality. It is beautiful to see how identity politics is eating them alive.

What a shame that we live in a society of people who have forgotten the past not about slavery for the topic never stops even though today not one black person or any other race individual are slaves but only slaves to their own ignorance .they seem to forget about the brave men and women of all races who gave thier lives for the right to spew thier hatetred or belief that america is at fault for all the bad that has and is happening in the world but if it were not for america they would be under japanese or gerrman rule and silenced they need to study their bible a little more with the heart and not a racsit mind for political reasons > the past is just that the past and people make mistakes but we had to bomb hiroshima and nagosoki the emperial japanese swore to fight to the death and all its citizens.they attacked us just like on 911 this preacher is full of hatred for the things of the past I think he feels like a real important man controlling the congragation. And putting words into their mouths .god blessed this country to stop the evil of the world with his help.We didnt ask for slaves africa sold us slaves they had already enslaved.Though i dont believe in slavery at all, The ones that were brought here had a better chance of servival than the ones who stayed in africa.and here though still slaves were treated much better than in africa. Why does Mr. right not tell the truth about that.It does not fit hes agenda of propaganda. Blacks have more rights than whites do but how would he know hes not white. All my family were dirt poor and picked cotton most of their lives.they were never given nothing.A black can call me any name he wants and i cant call the law on him.But let me call a black man a the n word ill go to jail. But the black music is full of hatred and vugarities saying the n word over and over.but thats ok for them.Twisting and filling the young black and white kids with hatred, for whites policemen women on and on etc.I think mr right should thank God he lives in a country founded by christians who were more christian than he will ever be.Who gave their lives brother fighting brothers black and white . for his freedom and To right so many wrongs man has done.Man is not perfect and sins.Mr right acts like he doesnt sin just the white rich american and jews.I think he should move out of his million dollar home and give up the power play and control of his congragation and move to Iran or venezuala or move to a paliastinian neighberhood.and see how much they repect and love and care for his well being.
He would be begging not only for his life but to come back to the nation of all races that he so willingly puts down in his sermons. If thats what you want to call them.Sermons . Lewis farakon was a very mixed up hate filled man wanting to get back a people government be it white or whatever.Because in thuth he was a phony and a nobody and wanted to be a somebody. No matter what religion or tactics he had to attack to pass his beliefes on others .Who would fall victim to his venom.I have many american african friends notice i said american first.this nation gave africans freedom in the longrun and many died to do that. But the double standard rheteric i cant stomach. And i would lay my life down for my black friends or any other race if it came to that.Just as Our brave men and women in Irak are doing .Cant these people see we have been attacked and millions want us dead white black all races. That dont beleive as they do..this mr right and preachers like him scare me his views are twisted and wrong.God will have the last say not Mr right. And i dont think god has ever told mr right anything. He needs to read his bible a little closer it says do not complain about your government, for god is in control of our goverment.A wise person casting his vote will get rid of ones in office that is there to do this nation harm.Misinformed people are very dangerous, to a great nation as the Great USof A.I have two nephews who spent 2 terms each in irak and they said we are doing what the people of irak wants.GIVING THEM FREEDOM.But our liberal media will not tell the world the truth. They want a socialist world total control of our minds and thoughts as they want us to think, and beleive.Mr right need s to find in the bible where Jesus speaks of those EVIL LIBERALS its there.God bless you Mr Lavin for your patriatism and your faith and courage to stand up to the marksist leftest and rasists who want to destroy our great God Blessed country.I listen to you every day and I understand what you are saying, what a shame so many like sheep being lead to the slaughter DONT.God Bless
You And thank you for your story about Sprite. I do wish you were our president. Texas David

After listening to the melodious oration of a poetic theologian I reread the words carefully and slowly. Barack Obama needs to take a long hard look at himself and where he is today and ask himself if he believes that Reverend Wright and his beliefs are responsible for where he is and how he got there. Is it the inspiring charismatic dogma and posturing of an enigmatic pastor with a chip and a grudge who sees America through the looking glass of bigotry and yesterday’s racism or is it his mother’s mother who perhaps had unfounded fears of men of color? Is it the Federal response to Katrina in New Orleans, or the poor black neighborhoods of New Orleans and Chicago’s South Side? Is it a color sensitive America or is it a color blind America where success and achievement are ubiquitous for the industrious and the determined of any color, nationality, race or religion and that, maybe, he is an example of the absence of bigotry, hatred and racism, not the presence of it.

Americans didn’t need to hear the lengthy sermon about why his Reverend feels the way he does. The Reverend Wright needed to hear that sermon from Barack Obama himself and in that church the Reverend needed to be in the pew, not in the pulpit. And that sermon needed to be given 20 years ago to his congregation, not to the American people yesterday. How do you unite with this rhetoric and whom do you unite…the dividers who he justifies or the rest of us who now understand why? Should we feel contrite and guilty?

Is Barack asking us to elect him with the understanding that he is the product of damaged merchandise and that his understanding of why and how they were damaged will cure a racial divide in this Country? Is there a racial divide in this County and is it because of pastors such as Wright or is it in spite of them? Is he admitting that he too may be damaged but now is above it all and is now the electable candidate for all Americans? But most of all is his brand of big government solutions any better than Clinton’s because of his color? And is big government the cure or the cause of the perpetuation of a cycle of envy, jealousy, bigotry, racism, welfare poverty, poor education, fatherless and illegitimate children within single family households?

Years ago Sean Hannity need not have applied for a job because they didn’t hire the Irish. Italians, Chinese, Blacks and Jews were treated differently and sometimes very wrongfully. In the 1950’s Japanese merchandise was the last thing that you would buy; today it is the first thing that you look to purchase. In America you earn respect and reputation, by performance, and Americans are fast to give out the rewards in jobs and money. The answer is not that complex. Nothing has been more responsible than the failure to instill within a population purchasable qualities and skills that lead to full and rewarding lives. Whose fault is this? Look no further than public education, the Welfare State and the big government solutions that bypass individual responsibility and personal incentive and creates a sense that you are owed and not that you owe yourself. Big government first destroys family values that in turn then minimizes the importance of education and personal endeavor to develop personal marketable resources. It creates a generational repeatable standard where you wait for help instead of making your own opportunity. It then offers a 3rd rate education system at a first class cost that fails to mitigate what it has done. And I don’t know if it can.

Barack Obama is not different. He is not an alternative. He packages his ware differently but the package contents are still the same big-government solutions first and foremost while blaming lackluster individual responsibility and effort the result of insufficient government programs, subsidies, grants and handouts. The problem is how many more years of the same solutions do you need before you recognize that that the cure is more of a problem than the problem was in the first place.

You are so wrong David Smith, If a black person called you a name, and you called the police, they would be in jail. You don't go to jail for calling an black person a nigger. If you can find one time that it was done, please send it to me.

Black people are hurting, whites say, (as above) to get over it. How can we? When racism is still ever present. I wish we could give you the 6 pigmentation changes that separate us for a couple of weeks. See if you like being treated the way blacks have been.

You guys are missing the point, if you listen to all the tapes, you will see that that is not all Rev Wright's sermons are about. Do you know that Fox had to go all the way to 2001 to find something in this man's sermons.

Look at the good that Trinity has done for Chicago, it is more then your church or just about any church has done. Keep looking at the videos and you will see for yourself.

I noticed that Hannity purposely omitted the whole statement from the pastor about state sponsored terrorism against Native Americans, Blacks, etc. Was there just too much truth in the omitted parts? I think so.

I love how the Libs try to cover for this guy and Obama. The point is not that some kook supports Obama...the point is Obama sat in this church for 20 years. He chose the congregation, not the other way around.

Did he ever speak out? Did he ever say that things have changed..."look at me - I am a graduate of an Ivy League school and my wife is too." Or does he agree with the philosophy?

I'm tired of race baiters so blinded by "their history" that they ignore their own experiences. Rev Wright was preteen to know any forced segregation, yet he treats it as an afront to his manhood. Rev Wright was born 100 years after the abolition of American slavery, yet he treats that as an afront to his humanity and a reason to be ambiguouos about his allegiance.

I'm not so ambiguous. I'm an American mutt of multiple heritage that sees Rev Wright no different now than I did David Duke in the 80's and 90's. I'm sure they are both building great socially rellevant racially segregated organizations within their communities, but I would prefer my president embrace their social demise. And I despise a man that either ignores or embraces their goals.

However, David Duke has met his social demise. What I am seeing is the rise of black irritation and militancy at the thought that they need to care for their offspring. 70% of black households led by mothers!!!? Shut-up about slavery and man up! No white man or mutt will fully respect a man who's children they are feeding.

Obama knew his Pastor felt this way. This kind of hate is an attitude not an occasional rant. Very telling indeed about Obama's decision making. Once again no real viable option to vote for. 3 democrats, McCain, Hillary, or Obama? All garbage candidates, we need someone to stand up for the real issues and get things done. I voted for Romney here in Michigan and he drops out. I probably supported Ron Paul if I knew what I know now. Racism is being kept very alive by the likes of the Rev. Wright. He is an infection and he has spread that to thousands if not many more. I agree with Mark Levin on this issue very much. We are in a battle between the stupid people against the thinking people. Unfortunately the stupid people are out numbering the thinking ones. This to me is the most disturbing fact within our country today. WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE! Levin for President!!

Rev. Jeremiah Wright ought to leave America. Then he would not have to associate with the rest of us sinners. Does anyone see something of the Pharisee in this man? This should be no surprise self righteousness is common to all Marxists of which Jeremiah Wright is one.

Wright’s Marxism is explainable. He belongs to a denomination [The United Church of Christ] which has been heavily influenced by a leading Marxist, Dr. Reinhold Niebuhr.

Marxists have always known that they will have to do something about Christianity. It stands directly in their pathway. They have decided to enlist the support of influential men like Jeremiah Wright. How influential are they? The next presidential election may answer that question. Barak Obama, one of his parishioners for more than twenty years is no more a Marxist then Hillary Clinton, but he represents a direct line between Black Liberation [Marxist] Theology and the White House.

For years Marxists, [the ones who use the pulpit to spread their teachings] have tried to give the impression that Christianity and Marxism have something in common and that America is evil because it does not identify with either. However, they never can explain why Marxism has been attended by so much blood letting which surely has nothing to do with Christianity.

They also have little to say about the way America has willingly fed and clothed her enemies. The same people that just days before were killing or maiming her sons and daughters could say that they had become the recipients of her magnanimity. Does Jeremiah Wright have anything to say about that? If I ever meet up with him I will ask him. You can count on that!

Obama is not responsible for his pastor's comments. Who said he was? The issue is Obama chose to attach himself, his family, and his support to this church and pastor of hate, bigotry, and racism for 20 years. What does that say about his judgment? More importantly what does it say about his real beliefs, rather than his political spin?

Dear Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton

Dear Hillary and her Family,

It was a very good decision to go away from Marc Penn and his trip to Colombia. It is in my opinion the best decision and now you can offer this to the clan of Obama and Bush.

You should stand on your strong position and try on a social and democratic way to hold and get the Democratic Presidential nominee.

You are in my opinion the best of the Americans presidential candidates.

You are also a very intelligent and strong woman candidate and no doubt about your loyalty to America.

You love and helping America.

You a great leader for the American nation and a great leader for our WORLD.

You are a survivor in all if not most situations presented to her and I remember Hillary as women with strong backbones of the American nation.

You are a very straight women and Hillary so many times to make good decisions, patience, and understanding and have more solutions to problems big and small.

So, my dear Hillary, do not go away from the Democratic Presidential nominee.

You are the best and ignore those who are voting blindly and not using their brains! Remember, this is a very important, highest level position which should be given to the most experienced, smartest, intelligent and strong candidate.

Americans wake up and vote for the best candidate to solve the problems of our nation and vote for Hillary.

That's an opinion from a friend lives in the Dutch oversea country and I hope that the American people shall awake up,

Best regards,

Steef Schinkel

I am 60 yrs old and I was 16 during the racial riots. I admired Martin Luther King and even while we had National Guards with their guns on top of the building here in Minneapois Minnesota..........I was never scared of any blacks. We got along just fine. If I seen any man on the streets I would turn around no matter what age or color of their skin. I grew up with six sisters, and naturally would fear them all.

Now adays, it seems the Blacks just have we called them a slang and they got all uppetity about it. I don't see this happening with Whites at all.

If Obama really wants the world to be as one, he needs to change his church, friends and quit using the racial card-himself.

I heard he turned back a super delagate, because she offended a neighbor by calling her kids monkeys. OMG I hope nobody hears me call my grandkids that. The Blacks are really causing quite a tizz.

Knock off the threats of another civil war. How stupid. Knock off threatening other Blacks, as I have in my family, to vote or call them Uncle Toms and harrass for votes.
GIVE ME A BREAK....OBAMA I FOR ONE WILL NOT VOTE FOR YOU EVER. I WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN

I WOULD LIKE TO START A PETITION, THAT WOULD STATE THOSE WORDS AND SEND IT TO HOWARD DEAN. GO AHEAD AND SEND ME NAMES IF YOU THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA......WE CAN GET ONE STARTED.
THANKS ALL VICKIE

WE CAN'T FOREVER HAVE TO WATCH OUR TONGUES BY CALLING ANY CHILD A PET NAME. HOW SAD IS THAT

I have viewed Mr. Wright's comments and fail to find any Christianty in them. As a 40 something white male, I find myself asking these questions.

- As someone that has never discriminated (or been in a position to discriminate) against anyone, why do I have to suffer reverse discrimination. I have suffered 30+ years of quotas, set asides, affirmitive action. I can actually be better, more qualified, and have more experience than another applicant for a job, but lose out because I'm the wrong color. Pardon me if I don't get teary eyed about injustices from 100 years ago. My experiences are real and recent.

- If America is so terrible, why does Mr. Wright stay here, why not go somewhere better? Somewhere more in line with his beliefs. He certainly has the means.

I fully support self examination, as Wright discusses in the "Chickens Roosting" clip. I fully support seeing evil and calling it evil. My problem is that the right Reverend is selective in pointing out evil. His logic is that 150 years ago our ancestors (not all of our ancestors, since more than 50% of current US citizens and their ancestors actually immigrated bewteen 1870 and now) treated Indians terribly, so now we should be punished. Does the right Reverend point out the abuses that America has stopped in the last 100 years (such as the Holocost), No. Does he point out other abuses, such as those committed by countries against their own people, particularly countries that sanction abuse of their women. No.

Mr. Wright (I'm sorry, I can't keep calling him Reverend) discussed the women and children killed in Japan, the plight of Palastinians, etc. By the way, I don't know if you have ever heard this analogy, but if all the land occupied by Muslim Arabs were liken to a football field, the land Isreal occupies would be the size of a matchbook. I wonder where Wright stands on Isreal. After all we are frequently called a Judeo-Christian country. Christianity's roots (and the Old Testament) come from the Jewish religion. Why then is the right Reverend so chummy with Muslims like Farrakhan and Kadafi. Is Isreal evil for stubborn refusing to be wiped out by it's enemies?

Back to Japan and the millions they killed. While Hiroshima and Nagasaki where terrible, it has been proven that those bombings actually saved lives by ending the war quickly. I'm sure that President Truman would have liked for the Japanese to have just surrendered (or better yet to have never attacked us in the first place) but faced with the reality of losing probably 100,000 or more Americans in continuing the war or ending it quickly, I think he made the right decision.

Long story short, Wright's message appears to be that he is dissatified with the way blacks have been treated over the years. Well, I'm white and I'm dissatified too. I guess we're all dissatified. However, instead of turning to Mr. Wright's diatribe, I would rather turn to a greater American's reasoning. The self accountability message offered by Bill Cosby. I'm fine working with or competing with anyone from any background on a level playing field. Wright and his bunch don't want a level field, they want it tilted their way.

I just can't support that.
