Drinking at the last chance saloon
Here is Hillary Clinton enjoying a drink with a claque of journalists on a campaign flight. Has she finally given up on becoming the next President and resorted to drowning her sorrows? Or has has the senator come up with an ingenious last-ditch ploy to invoke the glory of a past victory?
Legend has it that four years ago, during a meeting of congressional delegates in Tallinn, Estonia, the former First Lady challenged Senator John McCain to a drinking contest and soundly beat him.
She may have traded Eastern European vodka for a glass of decent whisky but Mrs Clinton has reminded us that, despite Obama's lead in the delegate count, there is only one candidate who can drink McCain under the table.

hey - maybe she lied about that too ...

My goodness! You sure like to kick Hillary around. Not to worry, she can take it and she's going to keep taking it right to the very end. Hillary isn't going to give up, she's not a quitter. She has about half the Democratic Party behind her every step of the way and we aren't quitters either. You can talk up Obama all you like, it isn't going to change my vote. Hillary is a winner! Obama is the new thing, Hillary is the tested, tried and true thing!

I used to hate Hillary. I mean really hate her. Now, while I distrust her, would never vote for her, and think she might even be evil, I kind of like her. Weird.

Blogs like this with this hate against Hillary are the reason why if she's not the nominee i will vote for McCain.
Probably, with your dirty game, she won't be nominee, but be sure that Obama NO WAY will be ever the president. Never!
Obama: No you can't, whithout us, and no we won't vote for you. We won't forget.

In many of the states she won, such as Calif. She would now lose if she went up against Obama now...so all this electability stuff is moot. Obama won now lets get after "Bush lite"

Eric, you forget that if somehow Clinton gets the nomination, you also need us Obama supporters.
Hillary is unfit to be president because of her vote for the war and lack remorse about that vote.
If she somehow hijacks the nomination, she won't get my vote nor the votes of millions of others like me. She'll also have a hard time getting African-American voters to the polls.
So if you're saying that Obama is electoral poison because people like you who are disappointed that your 'inevitable' candidate didn't get the nomination, I'm saying that there are lots of people who support Obama who won't support Clinton.
Sometimes I hope that at the Democratic convention, the delegates draft and select Gore as the Democratic nominee.

If the DNC lets Hillary bamboozle them into any type of advantage for her in Michigan or Florida, I think I will find a new party to support. The Hillary Terrorists who are demonstrating on May 31st in Washington should not be viewed as a threat to the suoperdelegates. Hillary has lied and used questionable tactics before, and this time she has cost herself a shot at being the vice presidential candidate.

Hillary has been given ample opportunity to bow out of her lost campaign with dignity. In typical Clinton fashion, she has chosen to linger on for self-serving reasons and at the expense of the Democratic Party.
Patience has worn thin for Hillary; Pelosi, Reid, and the remaining Super-Delegates are poised to shut her down.
Hillary has some major amends to make to her NY contingency, especially the AA community, who have seen Hillary in her true colors!
No wonder she drinks!

Hillary is not representing Hillary; she represents the establishment, the neocon ideologues, the status-quo and the architects of this order. All have a vested interest in the Iraqi Project, the upcoming Iranian Project, and in fundamentally eroding the American values in the name of freedom, democracy and national security. They will fight to the death to preserve them. The "change" she talks about, is not fundamental change that Obama talks about, but change of 'party in power'.

LIARS LIARS & LIARS, the CLINTONS obviously. I am suprised the Americans havnt worked this one out yet. Mr Clinton has an affair and denies it and you beleive him. Mrs Clinton lies about her so called Mis-speak and you support her. USA is the most racist country in the world and you have cheek to try tell rest of the world how to run their country.

As an Englishman I have no opinion to offer as to which, if either, canidate is worthy of selection. However it does seem a trifle unfair that the world seems unlikely to hear of a president going down on an aid in the foreseable future!

Who's to say that Obama will have Hillary Supporters Voter either? If she's not the canidate I'm simply not voting.I don't care for Mccain and Obama is outrageous and crazy, he'll be just as rotten as Bush Jr, once you get past the fancy stolen speeches he's a pansy ass and I refuse to elect him based on him being a democrat alone.

I guess some people need to booze it up, this is was of many times I read where she has to have a drink. What does that have to say for those who are thinking of getting into polictics. Her morals are different than mine, I believe marriage should come first then live with the man. She signed the rules regarding the primaries but once she found out there was someone out there that could beat her THEN she want the voters to be able to vote. I do not trust her nor Bill they are only out there for themselves. It would look good on her resume. OBAMA 08

Don't you wish. Latest polls show him leading McCain in the GE by a large majority in California. The same in Texas, which he won before. That's almost a third of the electoral votes he needs in two states.

About those people who won't vote for Obama. The sane first-wave feminists will realize that the two impending Supreme Court retirements need to be replaced with judges who won't destroy Roe v. Wade and make abortion illegal. As for the poorly educated working-class males in Appalachia, they've voted Republican ever since Reagan. Obama seems to be trying to replace them with new younger voters. That's what "Change" is about.

Hard to believe Hillary supporters are still hyping that she has a chance.
They must still be in the first stage of grief: denial.
Looks like Hillary has already moved on to "bargaining" with her wasted trip to the RBC on Saturday.
And you Clinton will not vote for McCain. File those under "empty threat."
Posted by: Scott Mercer | 01 June 2008 at 11:34 AM
Mrs. Clinton is absolutely inspiring on this subject.
As she tells us, she's doing it for the sacred right of voters to decide.
That's the kind of stuff great leaders are made of.
Yes, she is ready to forsake the rule of law effectively, to abandon agreements of only months ago, all in the name of democratic values.
The thinking reminds me precisely of why the U.S. broke international law, abandoned Geneva Conventions, and committed war crimes to bring 'democracy' to Iraq.
But then Clinton voted for that, too, didn't she?
Clinton has so polarized the Democrats, I'm afraid there's every liklihood McCain will win. Her supporters sound like Hitler-Jugend.
It was said at the beginning that the upcoming election was the Democrat's to lose, and it looks like they managed to find just how to do it.
Posted by: JOHN CHUCKMAN | 01 June 2008 at 03:08 PM
Hillary will not be the nominee, nor on the ticket. And if her supporters choose to vote for McCain and the continued war, they were never Democrats to start. This was never about gender or race, it is about who can best lead America. Drinking anyone under the table is hardly a example I want my president setting. Obama will make the best president we've had in many decades, and that irks the Clintons as much as losing this primary.

The Party must not yield to the Veiled Threats from the Clinton Campaign.
Nobody is stealing this campaign from Hillary,.. she’s losing it. As an former Hillary supporter I will candidly state, that her greatest mistake was revealing her true self to the voters.
As the father of three daughters, I had hope that we would have a woman candidate that reflected the qualities that would advance the cause of women. My hope at this point is that Hillary’s demonstration does not send the message that gender is more important than good character.
The Clinton’s “Rule changing tactics” and veiled threats was farther reflected by Mandy Grunwald, a longtime Clinton advisor on Face the Nation. When did the measure for the Party’s presidential nominee change from “Delegates” to “Popular Votes”? It has not and will not do so. Its as if they are saying: "Here is something you can use ("The Popular Vote") to steal the nomination for me, because if you do not I will undermine the November election". Is this a preview of what a President Hillary Clinton would be like? Its hard to determine Hillary's motivation at this critical point..."Selfishness" or "Madness"?
“We the People”, can not place our nation’s trust in this candidate. Hillary’s resistance to play by the rules of the Party and lack of respect for the voters, speaks volumes as to her true character and that of many of her advisors.

The question isn't who will the Hilary supporters go for if HC doesn't get the nomination, its who will the Obama supporters go for if Hilary DOES get the nomination?? I would suggest that McCain's leftward leaning position on many policies would draw in BO's key supporters, ahead of HC. If HC gets the nomination then McCain is a shoe-in. I say give BO the chance to win the fight. He took it to HC 'the inevitable' and has won, he can do it to McCain too!

Do we want a lush answering the phone at 3 am in the morning? Particularly one who is a proven liar and who cannot tell the difference between fantasy and reality? I'm a feminist and believe Hillary's scorched-earth, hopelessly inept, shamelessly nasty campaign has proven a disaster to feminism's cause and will set us back at least twenty years.
Posted by: lyn | 02 June 2008 at 03:07 AM
Eric-
That's funny.
I wanted to vote for Hillary. After seeing so much of her distasteful conduct, there is no way I would want her as executive of the US.
It's refreshing to see that a candidate built on ethics and principal is doing so well. That's why I support Obama 100% and it feels good.
You're right, that if the Dems don't unite there will be trouble.
"If she's not the nominee i will vote for McCain."
I personally find that another distasteful aspect of the Hillary movement. I will not vote for McCain, no matter what the outcome. Because we can't take another four years of it - not because my candidate lost the primary.
That childish - I don't like you because you won kinda thing not only shows poor sportsman ship, but shows the difference between you and us.

Come on America, let's stop all the hating. Sen. Obama & Clinton are both intellegent. One of them will win. Let's just stop hating and get behind the winner. This is a wonderful time for the Dems. Once you open up to the winner and allow them to lead, we will all be better off. Do you want more years of the Bush madness? For crying out loud, stop the hating, and let's bring this Dem ship in with maturity, grace and dignity. Oh yes, I Love You All!!!!
