Biden: "John McCain is my friend, but..."
The Democratic nominee for Vice President of the United States of America is playing second fiddle to Bill Clinton tonight, but don't tell him that. Amid references to his working class roots and praise of Barack Obama, Joe Biden pointed his guns squarely at John McCain.
"John McCain is my friend...But I profoundly disagree with the direction that John wants to take the country. For example, John thinks that during the Bush years 'we've made great progress economically.' I think it's abysmal.
"And in the Senate, John sided with President Bush 95 percent of the time. Give me a break. When John McCain proposes $200 billion in new tax breaks for corporate America, $1 billion alone for just eight of the largest companies, but no relief for 100 million American families, that's not change; that's more of the same."
Biden then turned his aim to foreign policy, attacking McCain on everything from al-Qaida and the Taliban to Iran, exclaiming after each point, "John McCain was wrong. Barack Obama was right." He reminisced about America's former standing in the world, saying:
"Folks, remember when the world used to trust us? When they looked to us for leadership? With Barack Obama as our president, they'll look to us again, they'll trust us again, and we'll be able to lead again."
Despite the 'red meat', Biden's speech fell a little flat in the hall. That is, until Barack Obama walked on stage to thunderous applause. The surprise appearance went a very long way to rescue what might have otherwise been a rather slow prime-time hour.
Tomorrow night, we move across the street to the 75,000 seat football stadium. Stay tuned.

Democrats and others with little business knowledge must understand that giving tax breaks to companies is A GOOD THING FOR WORKERS. The less tax businesses have to pay, the more money they have for wages, and this has been proved many times. Low taxes are the core feature for fiscal conservatives; Economists know that low taxes for businesses and the public leads too a better economy and eventually leads to the same amount of tax as previously "stolen".
