Ben Affleck, Jimmy Kimmell and half of Hollywood

In Caitlin Moran's piece, times2 explained the background to the hilarious Matt Damon and Sarah Silverman video that is whipping up such a storm on YouTube. Here is the video, plus Jimmy Kimmel's outraged and outrageous response, featuring a strangely clad Ben affleck.

The secrets of Starbucks

Almost every Starbucks outlet in the United States was temporarily shut earlier this week to retrain 135,000 baristas in the art of making a good coffee. “It’s not as simple as pushing a button,” said Ann-Marie Kurtz, Starbucks’ manager of global coffee and tea education. But what actually went on behind closed doors as Starbucks addicts went thirsty for a good three hours? One insider spills the beans (geddit?) here.

Burking in Paris

An Australian screening for the deaf of The Queen was turned into a farce this week by awful subtitles. “Buckingham Palace” became “burking in Paris” and “did you vote” became “dead in a boat”. Pirated DVDs often contain such clangers but Spider-Man 3 is on YouTube as one of the worst. “Don’t worry” becomes “have no matter” and “a little chunky” somehow becomes “elephant short wax”.

Britney fears

All the money in the world won’t stop you ageing. Digital experts at the site Age Progression have composed images of what Britney Spears will look like at the age of 36, and then later on at 46, factoring in her fast food, heavy drinking and hard partying lifestyle. The results are not pretty. If you thought Spears looked in trouble right now, think again.

Obama the vampire

Every politician has a skeleton in the closet. What is Barack Obama’s? The ten-minute web musical Barackula centres on a fictional Obama’s time at the Harvard Law Review, when he comes under the spell of a group of vampire lawyers, who claim to have inaugurated 56 senators, 22 presidents and even a governor and his wife into their clan. Will he vanquish them?

Gassing about British Gas

British Gas has made profits of almost £600 million this year, up from £95 million in 2006. But the energy supplier has just announced a 15 per cent rise in customer charges, despite receiving up to five times as many complaints as its rivals. On the popular customer service ratings site Plebble, consumers can rate a huge range of companies — British Gas currently has a rating of minus 3.95 out of 5.

Tiger talents

Tigers are not always the hunters. A pregnant Royal Bengal tigress was rescued this week after she escaped from the Sunderbans Tiger Reserve in India and was chased

for 14 hours by a village mob that pelted her with stones and tried

to set her alight. But tigers are resourceful, and once she had

been rescued and

removed to

put on a boat she swam to freedom.

See one of her fellow

Sunderbans tigers battle the current here.

Rewind Kindly

Jack Black’s new film Be Kind Rewind, which opens on Friday, features two guys who have to recreate all the films in the video shop where one of them works, after they accidentally destroy the originals. A competition to find the best home remakes was launched by the site Filmmaking Frenzy, where you can view selected entries. They include Taxi Driver, Top Gun and even Be Kind Rewind itself.

The McCain clan

Jack McCain, the son of John, is a fan of Mexican food, likes racing cars and “for those of you who don't have a permanent seat on the Straight Talk Express” is “just like you”. What that means exactly is unclear but Jack’s recent addition to his sister Meghan’s blog (McCain Blogette) is definitely not political. However, he does admit to dabbling in philosophy every now and then.

Indiana Jones and the elderly

You would be forgiven for wondering where Harrison Ford has been all these years. Yes, it is, after all, decades since he began with such classics as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. But now, after much of hype, the fourth Indiana Jones film is ready for release this summer, and a teaser trailer is finally available online. Compare a more mature Indy to his younger self in the original Raiders of the Lost Ark trailer below.
