Your mother

Mums can be embarrassing. They retain the capacity to make you feel as if you were 5 well in to adulthood. But what better way to exorcise all that embarrassment than to post their endearments on the internet? Postcards from Yo Momma asks you to send in your mum’s messages. “Call me” is a common one, while one recipient is pestered about an enticing “lunch with grandma and the garage-sailing group”.

Desk golf

So what if they’ve shut down Facebook at work. There are plenty of other sites on which to waste time. Match Practice and the Social Golfer have merged to form one giant golf geek forum, where you can rate golf courses around the country, “make new friends”, and yes, “play more golf”. What will really have you addicted though, whether you’re a golf fan or not, is the online putting game.

Clinton "misspeaks"

Sniper fire and a hurried escape from the >aircraft to their vehicles. That was how Hillary Clinton claimed to have entered Bosnia as First Lady in 1996, speaking of the visit 12 years on. But CBS news has exposed the description as, ahem, misleading. Their footage shows Clinton greeted calmly by the waiting crowds, before strolling across the tarmac to a little girl who reads her a poem.

Today I wagged my tail

The blogosphere has a new kind of internet user — the canine blogger. Dog diaries are everywhere: Dogbook, the Facebook pet profile application, has 34,000 daily users. One popular personal blog is Max The Golden Retriever, where you can read all about the three-year-old’s antics. “Hey, look, a tennis ball,” reads one posting. "My long-lost tennis ball ... how many hours has it been since I saw you last?”

Amateur narcissist

Sebastian Horsley, the artist best known for undergoing voluntary crucifixion and writing about drug addiction and prostitutes, has been denied entry to the US on the grounds of “moral turpitude”. His own self-analysis is certainly colourful: “I fear I am an amateur narcissist after all. I am sure it won’t last and I shall finally give in to my narcissism and marry myself.” Read more of his opinions here.

Unsexiest women

Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed her heartache over being voted the world’s unsexiest woman by a men’s magazine poll. The folks at Maxim claimed she was even less sexy that troubled singers Britney and Amy Winehouse, both of whom also made the top five. “Do I have big fake boobs, Botox and big lips? No. It’s kind of shocking… so brutal” she told Grazia magazine. Do you agree?

Strange ambition

A Cornish strongman has set a new world record by breaking 55 concrete blocks with his bare hands in less than five seconds. There have been some pretty bizarre world record breakers over the years, including the woman whose fingernails grew to 33 inches and the man who can pop both of his eyes 95 per cent out of their sockets. “It is a gift from God,” says the latter. See some of the weirdest here.

Is Kate Moss a vampire?

Recent pictures of the exposed neck of Jamie Hince, the ravishing boyfriend of Kate Moss, have sparked rumours that the queen of fashion may well be ruling over the undead. Miss Moss a vampire? It would certainly go a long way to explain her knack for invisible ageing. Could you be a vampire too? If you are rather too fond of bare necks and shy away from sunlight and sharpened wooden stakes, the answer may be yes. Take the definitive test here.

Beat cyberbullying

A recent poll by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers has caused a stir by revealing that one teacher in six had been the victim of cyberbullying by pupils or parents. They obviously didn’t know about BullyDB, an online cyberbully database, which allows users to log details of bullying and check suspicious screen names and e-mail addresses. For a more light-hearted lesson visit Mcgruff and play “Shrink the Cyberbully”

Bitchin' about Hitchen

Christopher Hitchens is the kind of man that inspires, erm, mixed feelings. You might object to some of his observations in the book God is not great. If you are a woman, you might, just might, not like his claim in an article last year that women just aren’t funny. Vanity Fair have launched a Hitch Bitch section, purely for people who have an axe to grind about the man.
